State Fair

We are off to our State Fair. I haven't been since I was a kid. I remember how much fun we use to have. We are going to the rodeo, but the best part is we are seeing the Doobie Brothers and Los Lonely Boys in concert. I love the Doobie Brothers, it was one of my first concerts, you know the ones where you are finally driving and go with your friends. Great memories....

Wow, I didn't know the Doobie Bros had gotten back together. I was curious as to whois singing lead with 'em these days, so I googled current members. And I still don't know...but it ain't Michael McDonald, apparently.

When did you first see them, Shelly? The McDonald era, or before? I liked the first incarnation of the band better than the subsequent ones...

I have one Los Lonely Boys CD and find them to be something of a Los Lobos knock-off. Don't get me wrong...they're good, but a lil bit derivative.

We used to love going to the NM State Fair. We would let the kids ride all the rides, see the exhibits and then head to the horse races where we would drink beer and bet on the horses. Eating was also a big deal for us - sausage on a stick, turkey legs, corn on the cob, etc. When I was teaching high school, the sophomore class, which I was one of the sponsors, won a day at the fair. We turned the kids loose and the bus driver and I went to the horse races (we did not drink beer that day).

Buck,
I am a pre McDonald fan. I saw them for the first time a couple of years before McDonald joined. I also saw them with Micheal McDonald.. They all seemed to sing lead during the concert.. Didn't sound very good.. Los Lonely Boys were much better then I thought, one of them can really play guitar..

Lou,
Our state fair didn't have horse races, seemed to have everything else..
